Foster Park
In 1912 Samuel and Colonel David N. Foster and their families donated the original 67 acres of Foster Park to Fort Wayne. Soon after another 40 were added. As it stands today, Foster Park is a total of 255 acres.
Foster Park is located at 3900 Old Mill Road. There you will find the following: a golf course; two covered rentable pavilions; swings and other play equipment; tennis courts; walking, biking and hiking trails; a large garden with a bridal glen; a replica of Abe Lincoln's Birth Cabin; and a cable foot bridge among many other features.
The restoration of the historic Foster Park Pavilion III is currently in the planning stage. The restored pavilion will have enhanced views of the river, more accessibility features and landscaping, and pathways connecting it to the primary trail, all while maintaining its history charm.
Kettler Park
Kettler Park's 6.3 acres of land was donated to the city in two parts; the first in 1947 and the second in 1957 by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred W. Kettler of IPFW Kettler Hall fame.
Here you will find a playset, swings, a rentable pavilion, tennis courts, a basketball court, picnic tables, and a large grassy lawn area. This park is located at the intersection of Buell Drive and Paulding Road.
Packard Park
In June of 1933 the Park Board purchased from George B. Buist of the Packard Piano Company the land which is now known as Packard Park.
Today this 4.5 acre park is home to Indiana’s first outdoor futsal court. This court was made possible with help from Fort Wayne native, South Side High School graduate, and international soccer standout, Demarcus Beasley.
The softball diamond located in the park is available for rent by calling the Parks Department at 260.427.6000.
This park’s open air pavilion is available on a first come first serve basis.
The Packard Area Planning Alliance is working with the City of Fort Wayne to create a new master plan for the park to help renew and refresh its presence in the community.
Packard Park is located at Fairfield Avenue and Packard Avenue.
